Ken Jones ran a 10.2 hundred hun-dred yard dash with the wind at his back, but broad jumpers, jump-ers, going into the northerner northern-er nearly were blown back out of the pit, as the wind hit them full force. The prevailing wind is a bonus at Milford and only the performance of jackrab-bits jackrab-bits and eagles seem unaffected. un-affected. The KanabCowboys picked up five firsts, nine seconds, and three thirds, to win the team championship with 55 points. Milford ran a close second as both Ken Jones, 10.2, and Randy Kerr, 10.4, qualified for state in the hundred, and Jones in the 220 yard dash with 23.4. The Tigers were one -two in the sprints, and rolled to first and third in the pole vault, with Dave Pullem clearing 109", and Less Davis, third. The 440 relay team of Yardley, Mayer, Kerr and Jones won easily with 46.5, but the Tigers just didn't have enough depth to pull off the team win. Don Livingston Livings-ton gave Milford its other first in the two -mile run with a time of 10:56. While the Tigers dominated dominat-ed the sprints, and the Cow- boys toughened on the field events, Parowan picked up five firsts in the 440, 880, mile, mile medley, and mile relay. That spread the first place ribbons around pretty good and left only two for the Beavers who picked up 24 points. Dalton threw the discus 123' 1-12" to nip the Brown brothers from Kanab, and Blair Smith cleared 6'0" in the high jump and was all alone at that height.
