Show Utah House Winds Up Sixth Week The House of Representatives Represen-tatives continued their push to consider as many pieces of legislation as possible in the shrinking 60 day session of the Utah Legislature. One of the 28 bills passed in the sixth week was a landlord-Tenant Act. "At the current time, both tenants and landlords of rental units are victimized because there is no legal method of resolving resolv-ing disputes," said Speaker Ronald L. Rencher (D-Og-den). "This bill specifies the legal rights of both landlords land-lords and tenants for the first time in Utah." The controversial Equal Rights Amendment was defeated de-feated early in the week. Opponents Op-ponents and proponents filled the gallery to listen to two hours of debate on the measure.' |
