So, now we are asking for the last effort from each of you. Is there some way we could all squeeze the old family budget a little so that we can get enough Individual pledges to make the last $2,000? As we have said before, be-fore, you don't have to have the money when you pledge. Just call us and make your pledge so we know how much we have to count on so we can get busy and make out these applications (for the full amount). The mayor and members of the City Council started the ball rolling by pledging $25 each or equivalent equiva-lent of their city council wages for one month. To make your pledge you can call any of the following people; peo-ple; Gladys Whlttaker 2256, Lucille Hardy 2370, or Pat Davis 2883. All checks should be made payable to Milford City Bicentennial Bi-centennial Fund and you can drop them off at the city office of-fice any time after you make you pledge. It was pretty discouraging discourag-ing a few months ago after our first proposals were rejected re-jected by the Bicentennial Commission. Not only did we have to come up with some new projects, but an even tougher challenge of trying to figure out how we could possibly raise matching funds necessary. I guess the old saying, "when things get tough, the 'tough' get going" certainly applies to the people of Milford. Mil-ford. We now have those two projects to submit to the Commission that we feel will qualify for approval. Our Historical Park proposal should fill all qualifications as a Heritage Project. Not only will it be a means to preserve a bit of local history, his-tory, but will provide for landscaping and beautlflca-tion beautlflca-tion of unique historical area of our community. We also feel good about the project of a sheltered picnic area we will submit as a Horizon Project. This Is going to provide pro-vide a recreational area for people of all ages to enjoy. It will be an Ideal place for not only picnics for large groups, but can be used for an open-air dance pavilion for our teenagers, plus other outdoor recreational activities. activi-ties. The most gratifying part of this whole experience has been the support we have received re-ceived from the community. The response has been tremendous. tre-mendous.
