Show CITY COUNCIL HOLDS ROUTINE MEETING MON. Webster's definition of routine is "customary or regular course of procedure," pro-cedure," so Monday's City Countll meeting was really not routine, since it Involved few problems and hardly any discussion. The only real discussion was over whether Councilman Dalton could afford af-ford . enough expenditure in the airport fund to buy anew couch for the airport so a flighty visitor doesn't sit on a spring. Mayor Young convinced Dalton It could wait until next month - or July - but, with figures from Recorder Jones, Council voted to let Dalton spend up to $250 for a new couch. It was routine like you expect most meetings meet-ings to be, but few are. Mayor Young reported he had talked to both BLM and Earth Sciences, Inc. about the course of action to take on the proposed reorganization reorganiza-tion of BLM. He said it looked as though now It would be best to protest the proposal, but he would meet with them again before the Feb. 28th protest deadline, and before be-fore deciding the next move. There was a letter from (Continued on Page 5) church on 700 South. They passed Resolution 1 and 2 dealing with flood control con-trol as it pertains to the new state building codes adopted last meeting. Councllwoman Whittaker reported $4,000 had been pledged to date, for matching match-ing Bicentennial funds. She "said $3,000 more was need- ' ed. There was discussion on the proposed historical park and the picnic area on the southwest corner of the fairgrounds fair-grounds property. She said she hoped to have a final design de-sign and cost estimates on the latter in time for the next meeting. Mayor Young reported problems continue with the lift station, but they are being be-ing worked on. It was noted the power bill nearly doubled over last month on the lift station. You see it was routine. HERE'S MORE ABOUT COUNCIL Dixie Leavitt stating he would oppose consolidation of school districts (SB 85), when It came before the Senate. Sen-ate.
