Show LINE BREAKS; WATER SUPPLY THREATENED Milford residents didn't run out of water Tuesday morning, but the faucets at homes on the hill barely trickled when opened wide, and rest rooms at the schools were without water. Lead caulking in a joint of an 8-inch line at the base of the "high tank" came out, the line separated, and sent a deluge of water down several sev-eral streets, threatening to flood some homes, backing up on Main Street, and giving giv-ing many lawns an unscheduled unsched-uled irrigation. While city employes were repairing the break water was pumped directly into the mains.. The low pressure lasted last-ed feu' five hours, from 9 a. m. until 2 p. m. when the break was repaired and water again pumped into the three city storage tanks. Nadine Jones, city recorder, was ready to take her phone eff the hook and go for a ride in the country as residents deluged de-luged her with "how come" phone calls. |
