Show 'J56 Was "Average Year" For Milford Weather 1956 in Milford was an average aver-age year, temperature-wise, with an average annual temperature temper-ature of 47.9 degrees, only .7 above the normal annual temperature tem-perature of 49.0. The highest temperature was 101 degrees on July 9. The highest record temperature of 104 occurred on July 26, 1931. The lowest temperature was 15 degrees on Dec- 9. The lowest record temperature of 34 occurred on Jan. 9, 1934. There were 66 days with 90 degrees or higher, and 181 days with 32 degrees or lower. The last Spring freezing temperature was May 15 and the first Fall freezing temperature occurred on Sept. 22, with 128 freeze free days compared with the annual growing season of 128 days. The longest growing season sea-son on record was 179 days in 1910 and the shortest was 80 days in 1911. 1956 was a very dry year with a total of 5.06 inches of precipitation compared to the normal of 8.44 inches. The greatest annual precipitation occurred oc-curred in 1941 with 13-22 inches and the only drier year was 1950 with 4.48 inches. There were 29.1 inches of snowfall compared to the annual normal nor-mal of 34.4 inches. |
