Show Beaver Lions Plug for Hiway Junction Signal, Home Mail Delivery The Beaver Lions discussed routine matters, heard routine committee reports, and talked of community projects at their regular meeting Tuesday noon in the Elite Cafe. Ross Smith reported that two channels 4 and 5 are being received "fairly good" by Beaver City TV sets, and that with installation of new equipment, which has been ordered for several weeks, the reception can be expected to improve materially. He explained that by using a "split" on the Cedar City antenna, at the suggestion of Cedar City TV sponsors, Beaver Beav-er is now receiving an unusu- ally good picture on Channel 5, and the installation of a new type antenna, which they in turn will "split" with Cedar City, will offer good reception re-ception on channel 4 for both cities. It was proposed to earmark Birthday Calender money for TV use, and include Miners- I ville in the calender solicita ! tions. Followng the accident at the highway junction last Wednesday, in which a C year old child suffered cuts aud bruises about the head and face, a ste highway official agreed to meet Beaver citizens citi-zens Thursday to discuss installation in-stallation of a caution light at the crossing. For several years Beaver Lions have been rebuffed re-buffed at every attempt to obtain some sort of safety device de-vice for the junction. Application will soon be completed and filed for house to house mail delivery in Beaver, Bea-ver, but it was pointed out i that investigation showed the population of Beaver City is. I about 700 under the usual requirement re-quirement for house to house delivery. The club will continue con-tinue to push this project however. Lion President Dr: Bishop said. The publicity committee announced an-nounced plans to furnish lithographed lith-ographed iour-color postcards showing views of Beaver Canyon, Can-yon, and also that an application applica-tion will be filed to permit use of a Beaver slogan on the cancelling machines at the post office. If the application is aproved all mail leaving Beaver would carry the slogan slo-gan on the envelope. |
