Show From Ferris. A letter from J. S. Ferris advises the young men of Washington county to prospect about home for the precious metals instead of going away to work. He gives a list of the minerals within the county; mentioning among others cobalt, which he quotes at $2.85 per lb in New York; lso uranium, which he quotes at $15.00 per lb. He also Says there is mineral wax and coal oil in the county, the latter "flows out into the sands of certain gulches and sinks away." "Would it not be better for the people to stay at home and go to work to de velop our own resources, and induce a railroad by which all these resources may be brought into use than to go from home, contract desease, and death among strangers? "I would be willing to instruct and labor to this end, that this county may-open may-open up its treasures. |
