Show Rio Grande w ill Extend. Herald, Feb. 8. It was learned yesterdey that when the Utah, Nevada & California begins work, the Rio Grande Western will, in all probability, go ahead with the extension ex-tension of its I'oad from Marysvale. The route laid out is from Sevier southwest to a point about sis miles from Beaver; thence to Parowan, Cedar City and St. George, and finally, across Nevada, to a connecting point on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe, probably Ludlow. The Western's great advantage would be in securing a direct connection with southern California and the deposits of iron, coal and sulphur along the route, while it would give the Santa Fe another an-other outlet of great importance, and, of course, that company is heart and soul with the movement. A corps of surveyors is now in the vicinity for the Western, evidently prospecting for the most advantageous details of the route. |
