A marriage license was issued on monday by County Clerk Whitehead to Samuel Sanders and Esther Annie Bradshaw, both of Virgin City. Much interest is now being taken in gardening. Vines and fruit trees are being pruned, and vegetables planted. The fine weather makes one feel glad to work. Samuel Adams, Jr., returned from the Dixie Group Thursday. He has started men to work fixing the road to the mines. The road has not been used for about four years. The Court of Claims on Indian Depredations Dep-redations has awarded Samuel Knight of Santa Clara $1,660.00 for damages by the Paranaget Indians. George R. Lund was Knight's attorney. Pete Nielson of Washington was in town Monday enroute home from Milford. Mil-ford. Pete played in hard luck this trip. After waiting at Milford four days for his load he was obliged to return re-turn empty. Iron County Record. We neglected last week to make a local lo-cal of the return of Col. Andrew Corry and John Tait from St. George, where they were witnessing the horse-racing which took place there last week. Col. The attendance at the special priesthood priest-hood meeting last Saturday was not large. Among the temporal matters spoken of was the county fair. The number of missionaries in the field from this stake were given at 57 without with-out Panaca. It is understood that Panaea has 4 missionaries out, which will make a total of 61 from this stake, a very creditable showing. Marion Stout of Rockville is quite ill with pleuresy following an attack of the grip.
