Show HURRICANE Mrs. Thomas Ilinton (AUNT MINA) Reporter Keith Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Campbell is in Manila Man-ila helping to rebuild the homes destroyed in taking that city. He is finding it a difficult job with the material at hand and in the rainy season, to make progress. He was happily surprised recently recent-ly with a visit from LaVar Hin-ton Hin-ton of Hurricane, and has also met William Isom, ' Byron Johnson, John-son, Roland Hall, Keith Wallace, all Washington county boys, and Orin Green, a brother of Mrs. Clifton Wilson. He says he will be mighty glad to get away from the mosquitoes. Mr. and Mrs. LeDon Bradshaw received a telegram from their : son, Kent, saying he and his wife will be seeing them soon. He has been overseas 30 months, serving ser-ving in Africa. Italy and Sicily, i Pfc. Doyle Ballard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Ballard is home on a 36-day furlough . after five months with a machine gun division di-vision in the European ' theatre of operations. He will report back to Fort Douglas for re-assignment. Pfc. Tim Isom has been honorably honor-ably discharged from the U. S. Army. After serving two years in Panama he was transferred to Europe, serving in England and France. He was wounded while in France and was sent to a hospital in England. After several sev-eral months there he was transferred trans-ferred to Bushnell general hospital hos-pital in Brigham City, and from there he was given an honorable discharge on June 1. Earl Dalton GMlc of Circle-ville, Circle-ville, Utah, and Mrs. Dalton, the former Eva Imlay, are here visiting visit-ing with her mother, Mrs. Ada Imlay and other relatives. Mr. Dalton was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy hospital at Long Beach recently. Mrs. Dalton, Dal-ton, who has also had military service is now honorably released. Thayne Wright PhM2c says he is enjoying his assignment with the military forces in Alaska, Alas-ka, but wishes he could come back and see what the "old homestead" home-stead" looks like. He says he surely enjoys the News. Robert L. Shamo, who is serving ser-ving with the 15th Army in Germany Ger-many was recently advanced to Pfc. rating. The Trail Builder teachers of the North ward Primary, Mrs. Louise Workman, Mrs. Reta Stan-worth Stan-worth and Mrs. Cora Brown entertained 21 of their boys and 30 parents last Thursday evening at the City Park. The time was spent playing games followed by a short program and a lunch of hamburgers, cookies and ice cream. The boys gave their code and their salute and sang the "Trail Builder's Hymm." The home of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Hinton was the setting for a party Wednesday evening, June 27 honoring Mrs. Minnie Durfee who spent the week here visiting visit-ing her many friends and transacting trans-acting business. Following a program pro-gram and visiting, lunch was served ser-ved to the ten couples attending. Mrs. Durfee spent Thursday at the St. George Temple going on from there to her home in Salt Lake City. The Hurricane Lions and Lady Lions held-a party at the City Park Monday evening. Included on the program was the installation instal-lation of the 1945-46 officers recently re-cently elected. A vote of thanks was extended to the outgoing officers for their good service. Mr. and Mrs. Madz Gibson and son, George Arden, visited over Sunday in Hurricane. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spend-love Spend-love of Boulder City are here visiting and putting up fruit. Jake Workman of Las Vegas and Emerald Stout of Basic, Nev. visited over Sunday with relatives and friends in Hurricane. Mrs. Don Gibson entertained the Pinochle club at her home Monday evening. Mrs. David Hudson, the former Ferol Gibson, is here from Las Vegas visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gibson. Mr. and Mrs. Jay King are home from Salt Lake City visit ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor King. Mrs. Jay King is the former Emily Barlow of Salt Lake City. Miss Barbara Twcedie spent last week home with her mother, Mrs. Frank Rcber. She left on Wednesday for Washington, D. C. having boon transferred from her O. P. A. job in Salt Lake City to the same position in the cap-itol. cap-itol. Jesse Lemmon has returned from Salt Lake City where he has boon for medical treatment for his eyes. Cpl. Elmo Isom visited here Monday on his way to Boulder City, Nevada., to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Isom. He is on an 18-day furlough from his post at Mountain Home, Idaho. His sister, Mrs. Chester Jones of Cedar City accompanied him to Nevada. .-. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Woodbury received word this week from their son, Set. Donald Woodbury, who Is with the light, pontoon builders eons! ruct ing roads and bridges. The rainy season is on and his outfit has trouble with the mud. Recently it took three trucks to pull them out Pvt. Merlin Hirschi is home on a ten-day furlough from Fort Ord, Calif., visiting Mrs. Hirschi and their children, his parents, Senator and Mrs. Claud Hirschi, and other relatives. Seaman Arlin Campbell is home on furlough from Jacksonville, Florida. Sgt. Ward Ballard has been home on a ten-day furlough from military training. Mr. and Mrs. William Standley are here from Salem, Utah, hoping hop-ing to make this their permanent home. Lt. and Mrs. Paul Sullivan, who have visited here for several weeks have returned to Bushnell hospital, Brigham City. Mrs. William E. Woodbury and daughters, Mrs. Stanley Bradshaw Brad-shaw and Mrs. Mary Lynn Reber, honored Mr. Woodbury with a lawn party Saturday evening, the occasion being his birthday anniversary. anni-versary. Supper was cooked on the out-door fireplace, 45 guests being served. Mrs. Sam Wilson and son, Gerald, Ger-ald, have returned from Ogden where they visited for a week with Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Elder, parents of Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. Paul II. Gates and son, Hugh have gone to Los Angeles to visit her brothers, Alma and Alston Isom, and with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Helen Hill. The Ladies' Sewing club met Friday at the home of Mrs. Annie Stout and quilted a quilt. Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Bradshaw have gone to Ogden to visit their son, Ray Bradshaw and family. Their grandsons, LaMar and Jerry, Jer-ry, who have tecn here visiting for three weeks, returned home with them. Mrs. Arthur Kendall of Nephl Is here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hinton and family. She Is Mrs. Hinton's mother. Mrs.' Melvin St ration has gone to Salt Lake City to meet her husband who is returning from sheep shearing. Mr. and Mis.
