Show Farm Census Indicates Decline In Number Of Farms In This County The number of farms in Washington Wash-ington county, as shown by the preliminary count of returns of the 1945 Census of Agriculture was 674, as compared with 681 in 1940, and 765 in 1935. This was annuonced today by Ira Gar-lick, Gar-lick, supervisor for the 1945 farm census in the Third Utah Census district with headquarters at Richfield, Utah. The total land in farms in Washington county, according to this count, was . 179,312 acres, as compared with 252,547 acres in 1940, and 134,338 acres in 1935. Average size of farms shown in the preliminary 1945 count for this county was 226 acres, as compared with 371 acres in 1940, and 176 acres in 1935. In announcing the 1945 census totals of farms and land in farms in Washington county, supervisor Garlick pointed out that the figures fig-ures are preliminary and subject to correction. Final tabulations of the farm census returns will be made by the Bureau of the Census and announced from Washington when completed Mr. Garlick said. |
