Show State Judges Name Marion Woodard Covered Vagon Queen The selection of Miss Marion Woodard as 1945 Covered Wagon Queen, marks the third score for Wash. Co. out of the ten girls who have won this high honor for that many celebrations. Miss Woodard, 24, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Wilson Woodard Wood-ard of St. George and was No. 30 of the 70 contestants for the 1945 crown. Tall and stately with brown hair and blue-gray eyes, she is a descendant of Shadrack Roundy, a stalwart of early days, who entered the Salt Lake Valley in Brigham Young's company in 1847. Since graduating from Dixie junior college Miss Woodard was employed at the St. George telephone tele-phone exchange, and for the past three years has been chief telephone tele-phone operator at the overseas replacement depot at Kearns Her attendants are Marillyn Barker and Marie Burnett. Miss Francis Parmley is the one selected as princess from the 99 contestants. For the next three weeks, the group will be busy preparing for the official presentation on Tuesday, Tues-day, July 25. |
