Show Funeral Services Held In LaYerkin Sunday For N. Evan Duncan LaVERKIN, Utah. Funeral services serv-ices were held in the LaVerkin ward chapel at 2 p. m., Sunday for N. Evan Duncan, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. June Duncan, who died in Hurricane at 12:45 P.M., Saturday, following a fall from a moving gravel truck. With five other boys, Evan was assisting with community project in hauling gravel for the streets of LaVerkin. The four other boys including Evan were standing back of the cab. Apparently as they passed through the Hurricane Hurri-cane street to the gravel pit, the front wheels of the truck hit a bump jarring the machine and bouncing young Duncan to the ground. The driver saw him through the windshield mirror as he was flung to the ground and drew the truck up at once, but not before the rear wheel had passed lengthwise over Evan's body. This happened at 12:15 noon. The -boy was rushed to the offices of-fices of -Dr. Clark Mclntyre where he died 30 minutes later of internal abdominal injuries. Born in St. George, Oct. 27, 1924, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Junius Duncan, The family has resided in LaVerkin since he was a small child. He was completing his third year high school work at Hurricane Hurri-cane high and was an active member of the F. F. A. of that school and reporter for. the group. Funeral services were under the direction of Bishop Church. There was a vocal duet by Irene Brooks and Clinton Isom, accompanied by Mrs. Hinton; prayer, Joseph Gub-ler; Gub-ler; vocal solo, Paul Wilson, accompanied ac-companied by Thora Gubler, "Boy O' Mine"; talk by Bishop Elmer A. Graff of the Hurricane South ward; piano solo, "The Rosary", by Maude Reed; talk by Don-worth Don-worth Gubler; "Silent As Night", by the high school chorus; talk, Bishop Morris Wilson; "Ever In My Mind", by the high school chorus; benediction, Henry Gubler. Gub-ler. Dedication of the grave was by Wickley Gubler of the LaVerkin La-Verkin ward bishopric. Surviving besides his parents are a half-brother, Robert Stewart, and two sisters, Beth and Grace Duncan, all of LaVerkin, also his grandfather, John W. Duncan of LaVerkin and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Riding of St. George. |
