Show Atkins Hinton, 70, Dies At Hurricane Friday Morning, Dec. 27 HURRICANE, Utah. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 29, for Atkins Hinton, 70, who died Friday morning after five days of unconsciousness. Funeral services were arranged for 1:30 and were conducted by Maurice Nuttall of the South ward bishopric. bish-opric. The opening and closing song was sung by the South ward choir, "I Know That My Redeemer Re-deemer Lives", and "I've Read of A Beautiful City". Frank Barber also sang a solo entitled, "Oh My Father", and Lafayette Staheli played a cornet solo entitled, "One Fleeting Hours". Bishop Maurice Wilson, John Humphries, Bishop Ira H. Brad-shaw Brad-shaw and Pres. Claudius Hirschi were the speakers. They spoke of his honesty, his good sportsmanship, sports-manship, his energy, his ability to plan his work to his best advantage, advan-tage, his willingness to work in the community or the church. They declared he was an ideal father and husband and an asset to any community. The opening and closing prayers were given by James Jepson and James Stanworth and the grave dedication by R. P. Woodbury. Atkins Hinton was born in Virgin in 1870, and has spent his life there, and in LaVerkin and Hurricane. His survivors are his wife, Sarah Eliza S. Hinton, and children Johnny and Joseph of Hurricane, Merlin and Reed of Los Angeles, Francis of LaVerkin, Mrs. John Atkin and Mrs. Harvey Hastings of Hurricane, Mrs. Lloyd Sorenson of Lund, Nev., Mrs. Marion Terry, of Enterprise, and Mrs. E. R. Carr of Las Vegas. |
