Show Paving of Road Progessing Satisfactorily Other Roads Improved With the Use of Gravel And Paving Taken from 91 Fighting dust, but taking it with a grin. St. George businessmen on Highway 91 and citizens of this community are watching the progress of the oiling rom curb to curb being made by the State Road crew with anticipation of the fine road that they will have when the work is completed. For years it has been the hope that this would become a fact, but when the war arrived, this hope was abandoned, when out of a clear sky the State Road department de-partment and men arrived to do the work. The construction is under the supervision of Morton Morris. One of the big improvements is the gradual sloping of the road from curb to curb instead of the sudden drop to the south side from the edge of the oiled road as was the case before. A full 7- to 8-inch gravel and oiled bed is being constructed so that the road should stand up under hard usage with proper care for years. Three blocks are being paved, starting on the Woodbury corner on the west and going to the Conoco service station on the east. In addition to this many of the streets adjacent to Highway 91 have been greatly improved with oil and gravel which was taken from the highway in grading the road down. |
