Show Last Few Minutes Drive Nearly Proves Fatal for Jack Eves A last few minutes drive before leaving with the selectees this (Thursday) morning on the 3:30 a. m., bus nearly proved fatal for Jack Eves, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eves of Las Vegas, but formerly of LaVerkin, when the pick-up he was driving rolled over two-an-one-half times at the in-teresection in-teresection of Main and 2nd South. The windshield was smashed into a "V" and the top crushed in. The accident occurrred at approximately approxi-mately 3 a. m. With Mr. Eves was Lyman Gubler, 17, and his sister, Fawn, 16, son and daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gubler of LaVerkin, and Shirley Hinton, 16. daughter of Mrs. LaVell Hinton Hin-ton of LaVerkin. All were thrown from the pick-up and received various injuries. An investigation of the accident acci-dent was made by Patrolman L. A. Porter, who reports that, the tracks indicate Mr. Eves was (Continued on page eight) Accident Story l Continued from first page) going east on 2nd South and slarfed to turn north on Main street, but saw he couldn't make the turn and then attempted to go east on 2nd South. The result re-sult was that the pick-up went out of control with the resulting accident. Sheriff An tone B. Prince also investigated the accident, ac-cident, arriviner after Patrolman Porter. Mr. Porter states that there was no indication that the group had been drinking. Dr. W. J. Iteichmann was called and took charge of the injured. They were taken to the hospital where it was determined that the Gubler boy and girl had only minor injuries. Mr. Eves was reported re-ported by Dr. Reichmann to have) a broken colar bone and to be suffering with shock. Misl Hinton is reported as improving, but the extent of her injuries will not bo determined until after X-ray pictures are taken. |
