Show Honor Day Awards Announced By Legion Robert Gardner of Dixie junior college lower division, and Miss Dorothy Norvel of the Woodward high school will receive special awards on honor day from the American Legion Auxiliary, Lester Les-ter Keate Post No. 90. Their essays on the subject, "Thomas Jefferson's Contribution to American Amer-ican Democracy" were given first place among the many entries received for the recent contest. Tieing for second place in the Woodward high school were De-Loris De-Loris Cox of St. George and Ilia Clair Stucki of Santa Clara. Marion Bentley and Iris Woodbury Wood-bury were accorded second and third places in the lower division of Dixie junior college. This essay contest was conducted con-ducted in the junior high and high school departments as a part of the Americanism program of the Legion Auxiliary. More than 115 students participated, and the Mrs. Ray Garner selected the judges, Mrs. K. M. Cannon and winning essays, which were presented pre-sented Monday evening, Feb. 19, as part of the Auxiliary meeting program. Other numbers on the Monday evening program were addresses by Mrs. John J. Phoenix Jr. and Mrs. K. M. Cannon on the subject, sub-ject, "Developing An Enduring Peace." |
