Show Scrap Paper Drive Now Being Pushed By Washington County Schools By MILTON E. MOODY Because of paper shortage throughout through-out the nation, it is urged by War Salvage officials . that all scrap paper, old magazines and books be gathered together to be sent to the railroad March 1 and 2. The schools of the county will act as a gathering place and we are told that the State Road trucks will be available again to haul from St. George and Hurricane Hurri-cane to Cedar City. It will be necessary for the outside out-side communities to arrange for transportation to either St. George or Hurricane. Payment will be made for the paper so that expenses ex-penses can be paid and still net the schools some funds. The drive completed in the fall is now paying pay-ing 41c per hundred lbs over and above expenses. All loose paper and magazines should be tied carefully with old stockings or strips of cloth, both ways of the bundle. If old books are sent, the backs should be torn off and discarded and the books tied securely. Now is an opportune time to clean out all old paper and have it really do some good. |
