Show First Aviation Unit Nears Completion of Course At Dixie College By MABEL JARVIS Flight instruction of the first C. A. A. unit of the Dixie junior college is nearing the tape line, much to the sorrow of the group who have participated. Perhaps I many citizens witnessing the daily flights to the airplane over the - city, have not realized how much ' this educational unit has meant to the group of boys and one girl ' taking the course. In reality ' it has opened up an avenue of ad-; ad-; vancement which perhaps few of 1 those participating could have un-: un-: dertaken otherwise. A few minutes min-utes conversation with any one of these young flyers would serve : to show just what the course has : meant to them, and how it will continue to influence their lives. ; The second training period will get to start-off about February 1, states Andy Anderson, flight 1 instructor. Already a second plane has arrived and is in use in the finish-up work of the first unit. According to present plans, the weather permitting, the flight tests will be conducted about January Jan-uary 21, when the present students stu-dents will qualify for their wings. It is expected that two units will register for the next training train-ing period and a third plane is sceduled to arrive for that purpose pur-pose about February 10. Application Appli-cation has also been made for a non-college group, with a unit of 10, which will open this course to those not in school, flying to begin be-gin after they have completed the required ground courses. Hope is also held out for extension ex-tension courses in flying for which application has already been filed. Should this materialize, as indications suggest, this will afford af-ford opportunity for a number of the unit now completing their short course to continue their instruction, in-struction, which they are anxious to do. |
