Show Training Courses For Youth Started In County Plans Call for Instruction At Dixie College And Enterprise Schools All out-of-school youth between the ages of 17 and 25 now have an opportunity to attend pre-employment courses under the national na-tional defense program. These classes are not for any specific training for national defense but are simply general courses which will afford excellent training for any occupation or work which requires re-quires general handiness. These are free to the boys and are an unusual opportunity. These classes clas-ses will commence Monday, Jan. 13, 1941 and continue for a medium med-ium of fifteen hours per week and eight weeks. Time may be somewhat adjusted to meet the convenience of the boys. The following fol-lowing schedule has been arranged at present: St. George: Claud Thompson (Continued on page eight) Youth Training Courses (Continued from first page) will teach a class in metal work including simple welds, tempering, drilling, shaping and machinery repair. This will be held at the college shops and will commence Monday, Jan. 13 at 4 p. m. Albert Anderson wall teach a class in woodworking to include planning, construction and maintenance. main-tenance. This will commence also Jan. 13, at 4 p. m., but will be held in the Woodward shop. Enterprise: Herbert Alger will teach a class in woodworking, including in-cluding planning, construction and maintenance. This will be held at the Enterprise shop and will commence Jan. 13, at 3 p. m. Alvin A. Jones will teach a class in Elementary Electricity including includ-ing operation, care and repair of electrical equipment. This class' will be held at the shop, to commence com-mence at 6 p. m., making it possible pos-sible for 'boys to take both classes at Enterprise'. Miss Buggert to Teach Class Miss Anneliese Buggert, home-making home-making instructor at the Dixie junior college, is offering a class for adult women in Clothing Construction Con-struction to run over a period of time during the next few months. This class is planned in such a way that women with little experience ex-perience as well as those of greater experience in sewing will find it very profitable. It is free to anyone who cares to attend. First meeting is called for Thursday, Thurs-day, Jan. 16, 1941, at 3 p.m., at the Dixie college Science building. A time convenient for all will be arranged at this meeting. It is important you attand this first class. |
