Show Red Cross Roll Call Given Hearty Support In County By MRS. REED BLAKE Roll Call Chairman The Red Cross Roll Call drive in Washington county met with hearty response this year. Thru-out Thru-out the nation there was a marked mark-ed increase in memberships, which may be in part due to the European Euro-pean war and the desire of the American people to do everything possible to help those less fortunate fortu-nate than themselves. In Washington county it was found that everyone was not only willing but anxious to serve in every way possible, whether knitting, knit-ting, sewing, helping with the membership drive, or contributing money. From all parts of the county have come letters and calls asking ask-ing the Red Cross for something to do to help the war victims. Many have asked if they might have a child refugee to care for should any be brought here. It is the desire of the chapter committee to thank everyone throughout the county who took part in any way during the Roll Call and those who are at present making articles of clothing for refugees. The mid-January shipment oi clothing to be sent to Great Britain will have been made entirely en-tirely by the Faculty Women's club, whose preseident is Mrs. Earl J. Bleak. The aim of the club is to do (Continued on page eight) Red Cross Roll Call (Continued from first page) good in a civic way, and the members mem-bers asked what they might do to help the Red Cross program. Their shipment will be composed entirely of children's knitted sweaters and dresses. Following are the results of the 1940 Roll Call in Washington county, listing the chairman of each community.
