Show Dixie College News J 1 College Year Closes V The Dixie College year came to a ;i. close Thursday night, when the commencement exercises were held. Tracy Welling, secretary to Governor Maw, gave a masterful address to the graduates. Supt. Charles H. Skidmore was 1 present and made a few remarks. S' The valedictory address was given fr by Eldon Gubler. An excellent Jfc musical program and the award- i ing of the diplomas completed the exercises. Sixty-eight seniors received diplomas. di-plomas. This is the largest graduating grad-uating class in the history of the institution. DJC I The seniors were honored in the j I final assembly program of the school year. Several class members mem-bers took part on the program. . which featured farewell sent:- ments and the singing of several , of the college songs. ; DJC , Summer Pilot Training A summer civil pilot training pQj program is assured, according to . M. J. Miles, who attended a regional reg-ional meeting in Oakland Tuesday. Tues-day. The new. -program will start at the beginning of the fiscal year. July 1. Students interested and eligible should get in touch with Mr. Miles immediately. There are also openings in the sheet metal class, according to Mr. Lindeman. Those interested I should apply. I t DJC Miss Falck has received word - that Ha Holt, the lone Dixie en- ?5f try in the regional music festi f held at Ogden recently, received a third rating in piano. Ratings were given from one to six. f" ; DJC tg F. F. A. Boys Plan Trip J The F. F. A. boys will take their summer trip to Carlsbad reiy Caverns this year. They will ee Tfe the latter part of June, accord- ing to Wayne Hinton, who supervise the group, and will gone about ten davs. . n It is expected that several a- jp. thcrs will accompany the group. B |
