Show Local Scout Executives Attend Convention At Cedar City Saturday The quarterly convention of the Utah National Parks Council was held Saturday, May 24, at the B.A.C. in Cedar City under the supervision of Chief A. A. Anderson. Ander-son. The Snow Canyon District was represented by scout executives, execu-tives, B. Glen Smith, Leo G. Smith, Donald Schmutz, and Charles N. Merkley, and explorer leaders, Clarence Snow, Ralph Hafen, Ha-fen, and Merrill Stucki. The territory that is included in the region is that from Utah county south to the Arizona state line and east to the Colorado state line. There are 192 scout troops in this region. General topics discussed were "Building for Democrary"; "The Troop Budget" ; arranging a camping camp-ing trip for the boys; uniforms for the boys; proper reading as in "Boys' Life." The record of the Snow Canyon District is 208 scouts with 20 subscriptions, and a quota of 40 subscriptions. The building of a memorial to W. D. Boyce, the man who introduced intro-duced scouting into America, was discussed, with department work following. |
