Show WHAT ABOUT COLLEGE? : With the Dixie college catalogue now off the press we are reminded that education is one of the nation's biggest big-gest businesses. More than 25,000,000 pupils attend American Ameri-can schools, ranging in size from one-room shacks in distant dis-tant countrysides, to the magnificient stone structures in our major cities. Pres. B. Glen Smith announces that they are about ready to make their annual drive to interest students in attending school, and the Dixie college in particular. We are reminded that too many of our young people have decided de-cided that they will go into the business of making money. Too many will stop their scholastic training without realizing real-izing the tremendous advantage that would come to them by pursuing their way through college. We do not recommend that a college course be taken by every boy or girl. There was a timfe when the people thought this was a good idea, but, undoubtedly, there are some boys and girls who can not take advantage of the educational opportunities that can be obtained. These might as well go to work, whether they are the sons and daughters of rich or poor parents. At the same time, let us urge all students who have completed their high school courses, to give serious thought to the possibility of attending college. The right institution, institu-tion, and right personal application, will make a difference in life. |
