Under the supervision of the National Park Service together with the help of the CCC camps, Pine Valley Camp Ground and its new lake are proving to be a haven to people in Utah's "Dixie' . Ball parks, tennis courts, anl play grounds will add to the sports being be-ing arranged for the day under the supervision of Walter Broo.ks Candy and peanuts will be showered shower-ed down upon the heads of the "Bawl-headed" men if they out-do the young unmarried ladies at soft ball or polo. Other prizes will also add to the attraction of the sports. At the second meeting held last Thursday, the program and sports committee announced that the day's program will begin promptly at nine A. M. and urged that as many people as possible arrange to go to Pine Valley the night before the 24th so that traffic problems the next morning will be reduced to minimum. The Martial Band and City Band will be in attendance and will add to the spirit of the occasion. The Old Folks Committee and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers report that a change relative to the early pioneers has been made. It was felt that due to the long trip over poor roads many of the older pioneers would not feel able to attend and therefore they are making special efforts to honor all the early "Dixie" pioneers at Camp Washington Sunday July 25th between be-tween the hours of 4 P. M. and 6 P. M. A special program is being arranged and lunch and transportation transpor-tation will be furnished. It is hoped that every "Dixie Pioneer" will be able to attend this fete at Camp Washington. |
