Show Sportsmen Elect Officers For Ensuing Year Cook Tells of Tlans To Establish Bird Farm In Washington County Approximately 70 people, mostly men, assembled at the Elementary school recreation hall last Saturday Satur-day evening to elect officers of the Washington county Wild Life association for 1939, and to hear reports of the past year's business. busi-ness. Also present were Newell B. Cook, state fish and game commissioner; com-missioner; Lee Kay, lecturer and Blaine S. Bettensen, supervisor of the Dixie National forest, all of whom addressed the organization, Mr. Kay exhibiting two film reels on the screen, one depicting the wild fowl life in the Bear River area, and the other showing a recent trip made along the course of the Colorado and Green rivers and the wild life along these streams. Commissioner Cook expressed pleasure at the interest evidenced by the large attendance and promised the state organization's cooperation with the local problems prob-lems for the best interest of . He discussed with the members a proposed bird farm in this vicinity for the propogation of quail and other game birds with which to re-stock the area. The new board elected Saturday night met for organization on Tuesday evening, where the need of early planting of fish in the local streams was discussed. It was decided to request the early shipment of 10 tanks of legal and fingerling sized trout. It is planned plan-ned to place the legal sized fish in South Ash Creek. Leeds Creek and in the Santa Clara Creek at Hunt's ranch and above and below the Pine Valley reservoir. The fingerlings will bo placed in the two Enterprise reservoirs and in the one at JTvins. There is also to be a tank of bass for thp Sand Cove area, and the Federal Fisheries at Springville are being asked for additional fish to plant in the local reservoirs.
