Show Many Marriages Take Place During Month of June and July The month of June lived up to its reputation for marriages this year and so far July seems to be runningit a close race. During the past week there have been a number of marriages consumat-ed consumat-ed and several more have announced an-nounced their engagements. Following are those which have taken place this past week: Thelma Heaton and George Hastings United In Marriage Here Saturday HURRICANE, Utah Miss Thelma Heaton, daughter of Juni-ous Juni-ous Heaton, became the wife of George Hastings Saturday evening, even-ing, July 8, in the St. George Temple. Miss Heaton returned from the eastern central mission Thanksgiving Thanks-giving day and has been employed employ-ed at the U. S. department of agriculture in St. George since. Mr. Hastings spent two years in the southern states mission and since then has been an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple. The young couple were honored at a reception in the Hurricane south ward chapel Monday evening. even-ing. Guests from all parts of tr county were present for a pn gram under the direction Claudius Hirschi, followed by o'53 time dancing. George will continue his wo in the Temple until it clos while Thelma is spending 1 summer with her parents in ton. They plan to make tl home in Hurricane after Sept'207 ber. Judd Wedding Reception Attended By 300 55.06 Friends and Relatives 47 01 Mr. and Mrs. John A. Jud LaVerkin entertained more 300 relatives and friends . wedding reception and dance Hi the LaVerkin ward chapel Tuesday Tues-day evening, honoring their daughter, Ruth and her husband Grant E. Excell, of Springdale. The bride was charming in a floor length wedding dress of white satin, trimmed with lace, and with a sweeping train. The guests included friends from all parts of Washington county and from Cedar City. A large number attended from St. George. The evening was devoted to dancing, interspersed with a short program under the direction of Vernon Church. The following numbers were presented: duet. Mrs. Emil Graff and Mrs. Vernon Church; reading. Alice Gubler; solo. Paul Wilson, comedy number, num-ber, Alvin Hardy, of Springdale; piano selection, Mrs. Calvin Ruesch, and brief response by the groom and bride. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served. The couple were married at the St. George Temple Saturday evening and left immediately for a trip to the canyons. They will remain in LaVerkin La-Verkin until fall when Mr. Excell will return to college to resume his engineering studies. |
