Show Santa Clara Celebrates 78th Birthday Anniversary of Founding "Three-Day Program Includes Rodeo, Play, Sports of All Kinds and Dances D. U. P. To Dedicate Monument In Honor of Pioneers Plans for the big three-day Homecoming Home-coming Celebration to be held at Santa Clara in honor of the 7Sth Anniversary of its founding to be held on November 22, 23 and 24 were announced as complete today to-day by the committee in charge. The program will include a Rodeo, play, sports of all kinds, dances and the dedication of D. U. P. monument commemorating commemorat-ing the settling of Santa Clara. A complete day by day description descrip-tion of the program written by Reed Wittwer is as follows: By REED WTTTWER Again we take this opportunity to welcome everyone to Santa Clara's Homecoming Rodeo Celebration. Cele-bration. The celebration will begin be-gin its program on Wednesday, the evening of the 22nd, presenting present-ing the three-act play entitled, "The Path Across the Hills", in the Santa Clara ward recreation hall. This play will make you forget your troubles with great roars of joy and laughter. It is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., so be there early to enable you to get a good comfortable seat Thursday morning, the celebration celebra-tion program starts at 9:00 with a basketball game between the Boy Scouts of Santa Clara and Ivins. Following tee basketball game there will be a Softball game between tee old men and young girls. The old men say they are well prepared and feel it a great opportunity to once again get a break with the young girls. Prizes will be given by the losers to the winners. At 11:00 a. m., starts tee kick ball game. Members participating in this event will be chosen from tee crowds teat are there by the recreation rec-reation committee.. So if you wish to help make fun, as well as see fun, be sure and get in one of teams. Now we take time off to allow for teat bird which we have been waiting for for about 365 days. Don't take too much or too much time for sports will start again at 2:00 p.m., with a hard baseball base-ball game between visitors and the good old home town team. To enable you to see once again the methods and skill used in old, as well as present-day baseball, be sure and be at the Santa Clara Town Rodeo grounds at 2:00 p. rrv Following the baseball game the crowd will be directed to the (Continued on page ten) Santa Clara Fete (Continued from first page) school grounds in the center of Santa Clara where the dedication of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Pio-neers Monument will take place. We will then offer you a few hours of time to rest up, clean up, and get dated up, for the big dance starting at 9:00 o'clock MST. This offers you an opportunity oppor-tunity to dance, gossip, chatter, and meet with old, present and new friends. Lets all do our part to have a good time. Continuing the celebration Friday, Fri-day, November 24, the program starts off with a Softball game between be-tween the young single girls and the married women. This will be once when the she's will be chasing chas-ing after something besides a two-legged two-legged he. At 11:00 will be a tug-of-war between the men. All contestants con-testants in this event must weigh at least 225 pounds or more. It will be war and lots of war, folks, if the weight from either side is moved. The chain which is being used has been furnished by the Columbia Steel Corporation of Los Angeles, California. Just a little more fun. If time will permit, the tug-of-war will be followed by foot races, fast and slow. Contestants Con-testants will be picked from the crowds that are present, but of course we reserve the right to give exemptions to those who took part in the tug-of-war, for they will still be asking for help. To enable us to put over our entire Rodeo program, we ask that every one wishing to take part, as well as the spectators, be at the Santa Clara Rodeo grounds Saturday at 1 o'clock. The afternoon program will start promptly at this time with a sport called the Pig Scramble. Pigs will chase pigs more fun even though some contestants will get greased up. The Pig Scramble will be followed by Wild Cow Milking, Calf Riding, Cow Roping and Horse Bucking. After all the pig chasing, wild cow milking, calf riding and cow roping as well as horse bucking, will come the horse racing. They may be fast or slow, but still one will have to win so it still will be lots of fun. Prizes will be offered for winners in the main events. And now, folks, come the best of all a piece of young beef barbecued. The barbecued beef sandwich is free to all those who paid the admittance fee to the Rodeo. This may be your first and last chance to know how this type of beef tastes. At nine Friday Fri-day evening we again invite everyone to attend the dance in the Santa Clara recreation hall. You will be allowed to dance until un-til ?? ? Friends, townspeople, and everyone every-one make your plans now so they will enable you to see and take part in the Homecoming Rodeo at Santa Clara, Utah on November 22, 23 and 24.
