Show Edith Sullivan anil Grant j Church Whitehead United In Marriage Tuesday j Mr. and Mr-. Victor Sullivan an-1 ounce the marriage of their daughter. Edith, to Grant Church Whitehead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Whitehead of St. George. They were wedded at high noon, Tuesday, August 29. The St. George Temple was the scene of the marriage ceremony, with Pres. Harold S. Snow of-i of-i f iciating in the presence of many 1 relatives and friends. Five grand- . i parents of the couple were in ! attendance, including Mr. and j Mrs. James McArthur, Mr. and j Mrs. George F. Whitehead, and j i Mrs. Violet Church. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served by the bride's parents at their home on 135 South Main. i An elaborate wedding reception honored the couple Tuesday evening even-ing in the south ward chapel. Standing before the altar, while Beth Harper dispensed soft music on the pipe organ, the bride and groom greeted their many guests. The bridal party stood in front of the pulpit which was banked with fern and gladioli. The bride wore an exquisite model in white satin with insertions in-sertions of chantilly lace and finished with a flowing train. Her full length veil was tipped with matching lace, and the crown was studded with tiny pearls. She carried a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Mrs. Wilford M. Hasfurther of Monte Vista, Colo., sister of the bride, was matron of honor and chose a taffeta gown of old rose with harmonizing corsage. Bridesmaids Brides-maids were Miss Helen Hafen and Miss LeNore Perkins, who carried car-ried old fashioned nosegays. Miss Hafen wore tiel blue taffeta, and Miss Perkins a gown of chartreuse net. The bride's mother was charming charm-ing in a gown of chartreuse chiffon, chif-fon, with a corsage of roses and sweet peas. The groom's mother chose a dress of black silk lace. Wayne Whitehead, brother of the groom acted as best man, and Rulon Whitehead was usher. Bishop and Mrs. Andrew McArthur Mc-Arthur received guests at the chapel door. A beautiful, lacy trimmed wedding wed-ding cake, made by the bride's grandmother, Mrs. James McArthur, Mc-Arthur, centered the table in the serving room, where the Misses Rhoda Cannon, Elaine Hafen, Grace Cottam, DeLores Sullivan, Ruth Hafen and Edna Rae Gardner assisted at the serving table. Hostesses in the reception room were Mrs. Ward Esplin and Mrs. Lee Esplin. Miss LaVera McArthur and Mrs. Orval Hafen attended in the gift room. Dancing and an impromptu program pro-gram furnished the evening's entertainment. Following a wedding trip to the coast, the couple will make their home in St. George. |
