Show College Is Now Ready For Opening Of School Sept. 11th The Dixie junior college is practically prac-tically in readiness for the opening open-ing of school September 11, state Pres. Glenn E. Snow Tuesday Tues-day as he left for a brief business busi-ness trip through the surrounding counties. The interior changes in the building for the housing of various departments has been completed and work began Monday Mon-day in the transferring of the department de-partment supplies and fixtures. The art department formerly occupying the northeast rooms on the main floor, will be located on the upper floor in the space previously pre-viously used for the library, while the library will be transferred transfer-red to the northeast rooms on the main floor, thus better facilitating facili-tating both departments, both as to lighting, location and space. Complete renovation, calcimin-ingand calcimin-ingand improving of the administration, adminis-tration, science and shop buildings, build-ings, and a re-vamping of the music department in the rear of the gym will bring the entire plant up to the point where every department will benefit, states President Snow. Bids are in on the re-shingling of the administration building and there is to be between $400 and $500 spent on a fine steel outside stairway to the music rooms. With the new high school shop relieving the congestion of class rooms, the college shop has been able this year to make many improvements. im-provements. This building has capacity for approximately 20 girls and they are assured of the finest possible accommodations and congenial con-genial and desirable supervision. It is understood there is also being be-ing provided a dormitory under the NYA to house boys coming to school in that setup, and that will be directed by Von B. Cottam, Cot-tam, local supervisor. From every angle the college board and faculty feel that they are in a position this year to serve the students better than ever before and they are anticipating antici-pating a large enrollment. Mrs. Leo Hardy and baby girl returned to their home in Mes-quite Mes-quite Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kemp and four children left Sunday for their vacation. They will visit for several days with Mr. and Mrs. Gene Palfreyman at Springville and spend two days at Fish Lake. Dr. D. Elden Beck and family arrived in St. George Tuesday on their way to the Pacific coast. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cannon made a trip to the coast over the week end to take their daughter, daugh-ter, Ramona, who will enter the Woodbury business college in Los Angeles. |
