Show Dixie High Debaters Win First Place Honors At Hurricane HURRICANE, Utah The district debate and speech meet held on Thursday at Hurricane, where three high schools participated, resulted in Dixie high school contestants con-testants walking away with the title. The winning debaters were Bill Fry and Paul Crosby, negative nega-tive . team, with Matha Gubler and Arva Barton, affirmative contenders con-tenders for the question: "Resolved "Re-solved That The United States and Great Britian Should Form An Alliance". These four young people, who were entered as a boys team, won three of their four encounters (Continued on page ten) . Dixie High Debaters (Continued from first page) and were in reality tied as far as wins were concerned with, the Hurricane boys tram, composed of Melville Hirschi. Russell Cornelius. Cor-nelius. Clark Fallard. and Harvard Hinton. However, a point system. used by A. C. Hatch, debate coach, from Parowan. in his judging of the contests, gave the laurels to the Dixie debaters, who will go to Salt Lake City May 6. where they will try for state honors. The Hurricane girls team, of whom Elaine Fradshaw. Ruth Spendlove. Barbara Tweedie and Mertine Stevens, are members, defeated de-feated their Parowan opponents and with their coach. Karl Larson, Lar-son, will also attend the state meet. Pixie did not enter a girls team. Those who indeed the debates besides Mr. Hatch were John T. Woodburv. Dixie coach: Glenn E.
