Show Soloists Chosen For Fine Arts Play, 'Wreck of the Hesperus' Soloists have been selected for the cantata, "Wreck of the Hesperus", Hes-perus", by Horace Dann, the musical mu-sical production for the Fine Arts Festival, December 4-6. Roene Bigler is the soprano, Clive Hart-man Hart-man the baritone and Junior Lar-kin Lar-kin the tenor. Pearl Matheson will read the poem, written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The cantata is directed by J. W. McAllister, and the college orchestra, orch-estra, under the leadership of Earl J. Bleak, will play the orchestra accompaniment. The dramtic production, "The American Passport" by Dana Thomas, directed by Miss Myrtle Henderson is being rehearsed daily, and much progress is being shown, according to those who have observed the thespians in action. This is a modern comedy, with a plea for Americanism being be-ing the central theme. Pictures for the art exhibit are already beginning to arrive, and they will be placed in the near futre. Huntsman, in charge of the exhibit, ex-hibit, says the display this year will be outstanding. i One day each during the festival festi-val will be devoted to music, literature lit-erature and pictorial art. The Fine Arts Festival ball, at which the art queen will be crowned, will be the concluding feature. Besides the evening features, there will be an assembly program pro-gram each afternoon. The art exhibit will be up at least two weeks, according to those in charge. Citizens of this vicinity are urged to keep these dates in mind and participate freely in the aesthetic aes-thetic feast. |
