Show Parowan Announces Plans For 3-Day Race Meet PAROWAN, Utah Plans are rapidly maturing for a three-day racing meet at Parowan next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 10, 11, and 12. One of the first meets of the fall racing season, this meet promises to bring together for the first time this year some of the fastest horses in the state. Several good horses are already in training there and many others have indicated they will be at the meet. Liberal purses are offered for seven races daily, about a thousand dollars having been budgeted for this purpose. Gate starting is promised, to eliminate the delays usually incident in-cident to racing on bush tracks. Among the horses which it is indicated in-dicated will be there are the famous Bamberger string from Salt Lake City, the Stewart horses from Payson. several from Sevier. Garfield and Kane counties, as well as some from Provo, Cedar City and elsewhere. Evening entertainment during the meet will include fights and wrestling cards and dancing. Short's Rhythm Kings, one of ike most popular dance orchestras in Southern Utah will play for the dances. |
