Show SCS Technicians Give Advice on Construction Work Last Friday afternoon technicians from the Soil Conservation service office at St. George, accompanied E. S. Graff to his New Harmony alfalfa and wheat farm for the purpose of making plans for soil and moisture conservation work. J. J. Turner, area conservationist, conserva-tionist, Soil Conservation service, reports that Mr. Graff realized the destructiVeness of erosion several years ago and he has already al-ready done a great deal toward controlling erosion by checking small gullies with straw and has dammed the larger gullies with plugs of juniper trees and straw. Also, Mr. Graff's practice of rotating crops with the Lberal use of nitrogen building alfalfa has helped in preventing excessive exces-sive erosion. |
