Show Emily Spencer Miles Dies In Salt Lake City State papers announced Monday the death in Salt Lake City Sunday Sun-day of Emily Spencer Miles, 84, widow of the late John H. Miles, prominent church and school educator. edu-cator. Both Mr. and Mrs. Miles were among the early settlers of Dixie and were widely known in this vicinity. Mrs. Miles was born April 25. 1854, in Nephi, daughter of George and Emily Brown Bush Spencer. She came to St. George with her parents and lived here until after her marriage to John R. Miles, living thereafter in Idaho until a few years ago when they moved to Salt Lake. Mrs. Miles figuerd prominently in church activities and was at one time president of the Sharon, Idaho relief society. The following children survive: John S. Miles, Blackfoot, Idaho: Emily Sleight, Paris, Idaho; Arthur W. Miles, Shelley, Idaho; Julia Bray and Angus Miles, Rigby, Idaho; Ralph S. Miles, San Francisco; Fran-cisco; 54 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters are Mrs. Almaretta Perkins, Cane Beds; John T. Spencer, LaVerkin; Frank Spencer, Spen-cer, St. George; Elizabeth Seevy, Richfield, and Brigham Spencer. Salt Lake. She was a sister-in-law of Arthur F. and George E. Miles of this city. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City at 2 p.m. Wednesday. |
