Show Hurricane High Students Present Play Wednesday HURRICANE, Utah "The Taming of the Shrew", by William Wil-liam Shakespeare was staged Wednesday Wed-nesday night at the high school under the direction of Miss Eleanor Elea-nor L. Nicholes. The play was presented by the senior English class and played to a capacity house. Parents and students from Springdale, Rockville, Virgin, To-querville To-querville and LaVerkin swelled the appreciative throng. The play, which when produced in its entirety takes four hours, had been cut by the English students stu-dents to a short though comprehensive com-prehensive performance, of one hour The costumes, which had been made by the class, mirrored the style of Shakespeare's day and lent the needed persuasion to the listeners that Katharina and Petruchio were being portrayed by actors in the seventeenth century. Miss Dawn Graff, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Emil J. Graff of LaVerkin and Melville Hirschi of Rockville assumed the chief roles and did very well with their lines, as did also Walter Church as Luccntio; Keith Terry as Hor-tensio; Hor-tensio; Phil Squire as Grumio: Navarre 'Millet, as Baptista. and mW Muriel Stratton as Bianca. |
