Show Utahn's Fortunate AAA Writer Declares By DeWitt C. Wing From what I saw and heard in mid-July while traveling through and stopping at various places in several Utah counties; to talk with county agents, farmers, businessmen business-men and stockmen in particular, a fair impression is that Utah's people are deservedly fortunate this year. A big harvest of soil wealth is under way and will continue con-tinue to the end of the season. Sweat and water team-work effectively ef-fectively in Utah. Families on land in the irrigated valleys are busy people, earning, saving, going ahead. Ranchmen produce sheep and cattle that show breeding and good feeding. Utah's ranges have responded to showers, a little more frequent this year than for some time, and the grasses are putting fat on the grazing stock. Utah's farmers, stockmen and urban people seem to be doing a thoughtful, steady job of developing develop-ing and using their natural resources, re-sources, particularly .their own personal resources of will, purpose, industry and cooperation. They are taking part in the AAA conservation con-servation program, to a very large extent in some counties. In Davis county, for example, 902 farmers out of 1,641, are availing themselves them-selves of some of its provisions. Truck crops and dairying predominate pre-dominate in that county, where 40 percent of the land is in alfalfa. Marketings this year from Utah's range and irrigated farms are almost sure to run the total income of the state's rural people up to a high record. About one-half of Utah's 52,000,000 acres of land is public domain and forests, the total of farm land, irrigated and dry, being be-ing IV2 million acres.
