Show Older Scouts Eligible For Trip To Yellowstone PROVO, Utah Older Scouts in the Utah National Parks Council are eligible for an exciting camping camp-ing trip to Yellowstone National Park August 20 to 28, it was announced an-nounced this week by Dr. Gerrit de Jong, Explorer chairman. , The participants must be registered regis-tered Scouts over 15 years old or jScouters. They also must be in good physical condition and have certain items of equipment. Ap-i Ap-i plications, accompanied by registration regis-tration fee and physical examination examin-ation report, are due at the Council Coun-cil Office before August 10, according ac-cording to Executive A. A. Anderson Ander-son who is in direct charge of the trip. The Explorers' Expedition will leave Provo Friday, August 20 at 9 a. m., visiting Salt Lake, Ogden, Logan, Pocatello, Ft. Hall, Black-foot, Black-foot, Idaho Falls en route to the first night camp at South Fork of the Snake River. Short stops will be made at each of the foregoing cities and historical facts surrounding sur-rounding each related. Saturday, August 21, the group will continue on through Rexberg, Sugar City, St. Anthony, Ashton, Warm River, Mesa Falls, Big Springs, and West Yellowstone to the Old Faithful Geyser Basin for camp. Appropriate services will be held at this camp on Sunday. Leaving Old Faithful Monday, the Explorers will cross the Continental Con-tinental Divide, visit surrounding lakes and camp overnight at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent in visiting other points Ipft interest in the Park. Thursday, Aug. 26, the groups will proceed via West Thumb, t Lewis Lake, and Jackson Lake Vc-b Jenney's Lake in Grand Teton ra f tional Park. Here they will meefa Explorer Scouts from other Utahr Idaho Councils in a great Explorers' Ex-plorers' Rendezvous. After visiting the Jackson Hole country and camping overnight at Fort Bridger, the Utah National Parks contingent will return home Saturday, August 28, by way of Evanston, Coalville and Heber. On the trip, cooking will be done bv the Scouts in patrols. Food and transportation are included in the fee of $20. Nature study, camping and cooking, life saving, and swimming swim-ming will feature each day's program. |
