Show NATIVE OF TOQUERVILLE DEAD AT VERNON, ARIZ. Word has been received here of the dead of Casper C. Naegle at Vernon, in Apache county, Arizona, March 16, 1928. He was attending a meeting of cattlemen there, which was near his cattle ranch and had just sat down after speaking when he fell forward and was dead before anything could be done for him. Mr. Naegle was a native of Toquerville, Toquer-ville, Utah, where he was bom in 1869, being a son of John C. Naegle, also known as John C. Naile, a leader in settling Utah's Dixie. As a boy of about 11 years Casper Naegle went to Arizona and settled in Concho, where he grew to manhood. In 1891 he married Helena Kempe, a daughter' of Christopher I. Kempe, and she and and nine children survive him. He served as a missionary in the Swiss and German mission in tire late nineties and for 35 years past has been a leading cattle grower of southern south-ern Apache county, being also a leader in the democratic party in northern Arizona. His funeral was held in St. Johns which had been his home since 1916, on the Tuesday following his death and was one of the largest ever held in the town. |
