Show SHEEPMEN WNT INJUNCTION AGAINST CATTLE OWNERS 1 Asking an injuction against a number of cattlemen runnin cat, i the "northern strip" of Mohave . ty, the Arizona Strip Cattle com, " has brought suit in the federal of Los Angeles county, California"? restrain Heber J. Meeks G w H D. H. Moris, J. H. John, Marcel Wilfred schmuta, from imev with the ranging of the piaim"'J stock on the public range. AH 0f h plaintiffs and defendants 'iive and yearly the sheepmen drive th flocks onto the ranges in Mol f county, north of the Colorado ri- this range being entered at points e!',' of St. George, Utah. Cattlemen w been ranging their stock over a a! part of this country, especially in !? Toroweap section, over which (T present litigation is staged charge set out in the complaint aiw "malicious intimidation, obstruction and molestation" of the rights plaintiffs to the free use of the m ernment grazing lands in the an" under controversy. 'a One of the features of the suit is ae fact that warrants have-been issued under the authority of County Attor ney Smith against the plaintiffs in case, alleging that the company has invaded a cattle country with Iarge bands of sheep to the detriment of the cattleme nwho have long ranged that section, and in violation of the state law. The trial of this cause is to be heard in the superior court of Mohave county at its next session. For a number num-ber of years there has been warfare between the sheep and cattle interests Some months ago County Attorney Smith met with the differing interests at St. George and Cedar City in an effort to compose the troubles, but without success, and now the war is on, as it were. The Los Angeles suit is an effort to enjoin the cattlemen from interference with the entry of the sheep into the "strip," but it is. quite evident that tne federal courts will assume no jurisdiction in the matter, mat-ter, as only an action in the state courts will lie, and not by way of injunction, in-junction, as the -parties have other remedies.
