Harry Smith and associates, representing Los Angeles capital, who some time ago leased the Keate mining property in the West mountains, 25 miles from St. George, have started work in the old Chism tunnel. The Keate property prop-erty consists of the Wall Street claims, seven full claims and two fractions. The Chism, tunnel, now in 100 feet, will be driven a distance of 200 feet more where it is expected ex-pected to encounter the main ledge, possibly a continuation of the Apex orebody. Surface blowouts blow-outs indicate that this ledge traverses tra-verses the mountain for a considerable con-siderable distance. According to information received receiv-ed from Los Angeles, a compressor compres-sor will be installed on the property prop-erty soon after Christmas and two shifts employed regularly that work may be pushed as rapidly as possible. pos-sible. With these added facilities it is thought that from three and a half to four feet a day may be made in the tunnel, and that the objective should be reached in less than three months. The road to the property leading lead-ing from the main highway, has been repaired and camp has been established a short distance below the tunnel portal. |
