Show CITY OFFICIALS TOOK OFFICE DAI0N Standing Committees Appointed Ap-pointed by Mayor; Three Employees Yet to Be Named; Changes Made St. George's new city officials took office Monday noon and perfected per-fected their organization for the next two years. The outgoing council met in an adjourned session ses-sion at 11:30 and promptly at 12 o'clock adjourned, the new officials offi-cials then taking over the reins of government. The outgoing council members were Arthur K. Hafen, Mrs. Vivien Woodbury, James McArthur and John T. Woodbury. Jr. The new administration is composed com-posed of the following: Mayor, H. T. Atkin, (reelected) ; council-men, council-men, Jos. Judd, (holdover), Vernon Ver-non Worthen, (four-year-term), John Stauffer, Jos. W. Prince and Arthur Cottam. The latter was appointed by the mayor with the unanimous approval of the council coun-cil to fill the place left vacant bv John T. Woodbury. Jr.. who was duly elected, but due to the press of other businessj was unable un-able to assume his duties. Mrs. Laura A. Gates, treasurer treasur-er and George E. Miles, recorder, both reelected, complete the organization. or-ganization. The following standing committees commit-tees were appointed by the mayor: Municipal law and government, claims and revenue Worthen, Stauffer, Judd. City water, Cottonwood canal and reservoir Cottam, Prince, Judd. Streets, lighting and drains Prince, Cottarrl and Worthen. Water works Judd, Prince, Stauffer. Public grounds, public health and cemetery Stauffer, Worthen and Cottam. Board of Health H. T. Atkin, mayor, Dr. D. A. McGregor, John Stauffer. The following city employes were appointed and approved by the council: Marshall and probation officer, John Cottam. Sexton and nightwatchman, Lorenzo Lo-renzo Bringhurst. City attorney, Karl N. Snow. . Superintendent of water works, Robt. C. Lund, Jr. City engineer, W. W. Cannon. The resignation of Leo A. Snow had been tendered to the mayor some time ago. The appointment of watermas-ter, watermas-ter, city justice and street supervisor su-pervisor have not yet been made, the selection of men to fill these positions having been left in the hands of the committees. The next regular meeting of the council is set for Saturday, January Janu-ary 18. |
