President Joseph Bentley and Superintendent Sup-erintendent Meacham of Juarez, Mexico, Mex-ico, are visitors here en route to Salt Lake City to attend April conference. Colonel Dix, J. C. Allen, Clarence Beck and Haward Fowles, members of the board of directors of the MidAmerican Mid-American Oil Co. arrived here from Ogden Tuesday night. Lester Leavitt and sister Miss Mae left Wjdenesday for Los Angeles, Cal., after spending about a week here visiting. They were accompanied home by their father Josiah H. Leavitt. Word has been received here of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bennett at Las Vegas, Nev., March 21. Mrs. Bennett was formerly Miss Adelaide Bagshaw of this city. The male chorus from the B. Y. U. will give a program in the St. George tabernacle Saturday, April 7. More than sixty male voices compose the organization. or-ganization. In addition there are saxophone quartets and a lady reader. Elvis B. Terry was here on business concerning the district school teachers associatipn. The teachers from the eastern part of the county are planning plan-ning a trip to Zion canyon Saturday. Teachers from here to be invited guests. The primary officers of the South Ward entertained at a party Wednesday Wednes-day evening at the home of Mrs. Nan Watson in honor of Mrs. Myrtle Whitehead who has been released from, the position as first counselor in that organization. The evening was spent in playing games after which refreshments refresh-ments were served. Last Sunday night the South Ward Y. L. M. I. A. reorganized with Mrs. Myrtle Whitehead president, Mrs. Delia Fordham, first counselor, Mrs. Alice Cannon, second counselor and Miss Lutie Lytle secretary. The outgoing officers, Mrs. Zora Jarvis, Mrs. Zina Reed, Mrs. Helen Reichmann and Miss Agnes Bleak were released with a vote fo thanks for their past services. |
