Show Supt. Moody Lists Reasons for Voting School Bonds By Milton E. Moody Superintendent of Schools Our big advantage in bonding the school district at this time is that the government will give a grant of forty-five per cent of the cost. This grant of 159,400 plus what the law will allow us to bond will give a sum of $144,400. This will not be too much to construct the two buildings build-ings as both of them must be large buildings. It is the intention inten-tion of the school board to build well what they can build and construct in such a way that the buildings can be added to in the future if need be. The system of consolidatior which has been part of the school program since 1915 has constantly kept before us the value of cooperation and the responsibility re-sponsibility of one community aiding another to secure adequate education for all children. Th :- state as a whole has recognized the principle as correct, that all children are wards of the state and that lack of educational facilities fa-cilities in one section impairs the development of the state. This principle is of course more important im-portant when applied to the county. Hurricane and St. George are in great need sf these buildings. We must appeal to the voters of the district to vote this bond issue and give these two towns adequate school facilities and when other town? turn comes to have a better building these two will vote with you to secure finances fi-nances for your building. It is to be hoped that all elgible to vote wiil do so as indifference at elections may bring results contrary con-trary to the wishes of the majority major-ity of the people. The one opposed op-posed usually votes while the one in favor has a tendency to sit b.ack thinking it will go over |
