Show WATTIS TALKS ON STATE AFFAIRS Wm. H. Wattis, Republican candidate candi-date for governor, was given a rousing rous-ing reception on his arrival here on Monday as one of the speakers at the rally that night. He was met at Washington by the band and a dele-dation dele-dation of local Republicans who escorted es-corted him to St. George. In his talk that night he discussed mainly state affairs. He especially emphasized the fact that it was Ms opinion that membership on the state highway commission was not properly distributed. He pointed out that no member of the commission resided south of Provo. He promised, if elected to see that the dirt roads were represented as well as paved highways. Don B. Colton, candidate for representative rep-resentative in congress, spoke on national na-tional affairs, the tariff and liquor questions. W. W. Seegmiller who was scheduled to speak, was suddenly called to Salt Lake. |
