Show FIRST LYCEUM NUMBER NOV. 6 Schubert Male Quartet, One of Finest Singing Groups Before Be-fore Public, Will Be Here The first number on the 1928-29 Lyceum, which is sponsored by the Dixie College and the St. George Committee on Recreation, will be present on the evening of Tuesday, November 6, when the Schubert Male Quartet will appear here. An after- I noon performance also will be given. Four excellent vocalists with unusually un-usually fine voices make up the personnel per-sonnel of this noted organization, assisted as-sisted by Miss Aileen Russell, pianist. pian-ist. Another splendid feature is the violin work of Erwin Dillon, the dramatic tenor with the group. The program is high class in every ev-ery particular and features some of the numbers of the noted composer, Franz Schubert. Costumed numbers of the Schubert period will be given such as the "Song of Love," "Ave Maria," and other lasting melodies selected from the Schubert library of some six hundred songs, many of which were written when the now honored master of song was music master in the household of Count Esterhazy. The Schubert quartet is one of the finest singing groups now before the public. Voices, personalities, showmanship, show-manship, and repertoire this group is outstanding in each of these very important qualifications of male quartet quar-tet work. Unusually fine is the ensemble en-semble and each member has been a featured soloist in recital, oratorio or opera during the past five years. The organization is now and always has been under the personal direction of George O. Miner, noted Canadian basso. |
