John Benson came in Tuesday from Enterprise to spend a few days here on business. Mrs. Annie Condie returned Monday from Hurricane where she spent a few days visiting. Tom and Jesse Pearce came in Monday Mon-day from Modena, where they have been working. Miss LaRee Milne who has been very ill the past few days is slightly improved improv-ed this morning. Misses Ina McArthur and Mary Wadsworth were visitors at Panaca, Nevada, Tuesday. Miss June Woodbury came in Saturday Satur-day from Hurricane to spend several days here visiting. Rufus Pearce returned Tuesday from Los Angeles, California, where he spent about a month working. Charles R. Walters was a business visitor here the latter part of last week from Wolf Hole, Arizona. Richard Carter and Sam Crosby left Wednesday for the, Grand Canyon, where they have employment. Albert Leavitt returned to his home at Bunkerville, Nev., this morning after spending a week here visiting. Miss Welda Watson of Cedar City has returned home after spending the past month here visiting relatives. Mrs. Anne Kemp left Tuesday for Cedar City ,to spend a few days' visiting visit-ing her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Milne. Mrs, R. U. Macfarlane entertained a number of friends at her home Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. A nice time was had. Edward Cox and son of Salt Lake City came in Wednesday to spend a few days here visiting and on business. Bishop W. W. McArthur united in wedlock today Roland J. Anderson and Miss Ellen Chaff in, .both of Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Walker of Mesquite, Mes-quite, Nev., were visitors here Wednesday Wednes-day en route to Cedar City on business. Mr. and Mrs. William Sorenson returned re-turned last Thursday from Monroe where they spent about a week visiting. Mrs. Lila Dalton and Mrs. Ethel Virgil Vir-gil left Tuesday for their home at Los Angeles, Cal., after spending about two weeks here. Bishop Karl N. Snow married Ocie Foss Hurst of Death Valley, Calif., and Miss Fae Eleanor Shelley of Wolf Hole, Arizona, July 8. The Misses Phillis and Norma Snow came in last Thursday from Park City to spend a few weeks here visiting relatives rela-tives and friends. The Misses Ellen and Metta Carter and Miss Wanda Kirkham left last Thursday for Salt Lake City, Miss Ellen for Medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Atkin intend leaving today for a five-weeks- vaca- tion, which they will spend at Salt Lake City and other Utah- points. Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Miller and family spent last Sunday at Zion park visiting their daughter, Miss Mary, who is spending the summer there. Mrs. Pearl Cobb and Carl Pymm returned re-turned last Friday from Los Angeles. Cal.. where they spent about three weeks visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Arthur Hughes and Mrs. Luella Strausser and baby were here last Thursday from Mesquite. Nev., bringing bring-ing the baby for medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nelson and family fam-ily and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Atkin, Jr.. returned Sunday from the Grand Canyon, where they spent a few days. Mrs. R. A. Brooks and two children came in Sunday from Salt Lake City. Her husband met her at Cedar City. They intend to make their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Lister Leavitt of Mesquite. Mes-quite. Nev.. left this morning for their home. Mrs. Leavitt spent the past week here receiving medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whipple and familv. Miss Cornelia Lund. Mrs. Mary McArthur. Mrs. Vera Mitchell and Jed Gates sitent last week end at Pine Valley. Word has been received here that Henrv J. Miles of this city has received a fellowship at the University of California Calif-ornia which will enable him to receive his Ph. D. in mathematics. Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Wulfensten came in Sunday from the Virgin river narrows, nar-rows, where Mr. Wulfensten has charge of the work on the dam. Mrs. Wulfensten Wulfen-sten had been staying with him for some time. D. E. George of Ogden came in Tuesday Tues-day to spend a week here visiting friends while en route to Los Angeles, California. Mr. and Mrs. George Lytle and daughter, Miss Lutie, were visitors here from Central Monday. Mrs. Ezra Lytle and baby returned with them. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wo'rthen, their son Dan and Miss Helen Pearce returned re-turned Tuesday from Pine Valley, where they spent a few days' visiting. Linder returned Monday from Cedar City, where they had been spending a few days' and taking in the reunion of the Webster family. Mr. and Mrs. Clare F. Gardner and family of Delta came in Saturday to spend a few days here visiting Mrs. Gardner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Moody. Mrs. Glenn Heaton came in Saturday from Alton, to visit relatives here. Her sister, Miss Norma Bunting, who spent about a month there visiting returned with her. William Gardner returned last Saturday Sat-urday from Salt Lake City, where he spent about a week visiting. Mr. Gardner is 81 years of age and gets about very nicely. Judge D. H. Morris fell while fixing a window blind last Friday, the small of nis back alighting on a window ledge and bruising him up. The judge thinks he has broken a rib as he is still suffering. suffer-ing. Mrs. Amanda Sorenson has returned home after an absence of five weeks, spent visiting at Salt Lake City, Ogden, Monroe, Loa and other places. Mrs. Sorenson looks and feels better for the outing. Mrs. Olena M. Larson of Blooming-ton, Blooming-ton, who is spending the summer in Salt Lake writes The News: "We sure enjoy reading the Washington County News, it is just like getting a letter from home." WANTED. The Deseret News of the 11th inst mentions the issuance of a marriage license at Salt Lake to Clarence E. Crosby of Belle. Ca'.if.. and Iantha Campbell of Hurricane. They were married on the 8th inst. at Salt Lake City. Last Tuesday morning about 9 o'clock while coming from Salt Lake with a load of produce Mervin Reber of Santa Clara and Rex Nelson of this city had a narrow escape from death. Reber was driving and went to sleep losing control of the car which turned over twice, both boys receiving numerous cuts and bruises. |
