Show SPECIAL FEATURES FOR BIGCARNIVAL All is in readiness for the grand opening of ;the Mid Winter Carnival and race meet next Wednesday December Dec-ember 28. The meet will continue for three days and close Friday night, December 30. The new half mile race track has been completed and is in fine shape. Some fast time is looked for. Horses are arriving daily, and from all indications in-dications the races will be the best ever seen here. The American Legion is putting on a championship wresting match between be-tween Harry Jones and Dean Park. A lot of action is expected in this bout. Several good preliminary boxing bouts will also be put on. This feature of the program should attarct a lot of people. The racing program is as follows: FIRST DAY, 2 P. M. 220 Yds. Matched Race, $500.00 a side, between Ucan, 3-year old colt of Clark Bros., Cedar City, and Uker, Will Sorenson, St. George. Three-eighths Mile Race for 2-year olds, free for all.. Purse $75.00. Relay Race 1V4 miles, Saddle Horses, free for all; three horses to each entry-man, entry-man, entryman to own horses entered. Purse $100.00. Three-fourths Mile Race, free for all. Purse $100.00. SECOND DAY, 2 P. M. Half-mile Race, 3-year olds and over, free for all. Purse $100.00. Relay Race, Two Miles, open to all wards in the County, including the Indian Reserve. Purse $100.00. Quarter-mile, free for all. Purse $50.00. One Mile Race, free for all. Purse $100.00. THIRD DAY, 2 P. M. Half-mile Race, 2-year olds. Purse $100.00. Half-mile Race, 3-year olds and under. un-der. Purse $100.00. One-eighth Mile Race free for all. Purse. $50.00. One-fourth Mile Saddle Race, free for all. Purse $50.00. AUTO RACES Another feature of the program will be automobile races each day. The garages of St. George have entries in this event, and it is expected that several sev-eral Barney Oldfields will be discovered discover-ed right here in St. George. Washington County, City of St. George, the Chamber of Commerce, Dixie College and the American Legion have combined to make this Mid-Winter event a success and it is hoped that a large attendance will be on hand each day. |
