Show Faulty Spark Plugs Are Cause of Motor Missing When an automobile engine misses at high speed or in climbing hills the trouble can often be traced to the spark plugs, according to engineers. Much of tills trouble, they say, is due to the spark plug points being set too far apart or because the plugs are worn out. The gap between the points should not have more than .025-inch clearance clear-ance or .020-inch in high-compression engines. As spark plug trouble is often mistaken mis-taken for valve or piston-ring trouble, the proper thing to do before making repairs, the engineers say, is to have the plugs inspected, which will save unnecessary expense. |
